a video CD machine, you will be able to play Video CDs using it.
- DVD Player
DVD players which supported VCD playback will be
able play Video CD movies as well as DVD movies. Please consult your
player's user manual to confirm.
- Playstation 2
We were informed by a Sony Representative that
the PS/2 does not have the capability to play VCD, although DVD is
supported.
- Your Computer
Most of the personal computers today, are
equipped with CD-ROM drive, sound card and speakers. You can play
Video CD on your computer if it is a Pentium and above system with
multimedia. To achieve smoother viewing, I would suggest you to put
your CD-ROM drive on the second IDE channel, separated from the hard
drive which is usually fixed on primary IDE channel.
Playback Software:
For Windows 95 / 98:
Windows Media Player can be used to play Video CD. Follow the below
steps to play your Video CD.

Launch Windows
Media Player. Normally you can find it at Accessories ->
Multimedia.

Click File ->
Open.

Click Browse.

Select your
CD-ROM drive from the Open dialog box.

You'll notice
several folders. Select "mpegav" subdirectory.

Double click on
the file with extension *.dat.

You are up and
running to play your Video CD.
However, please
note that some VCDs may not play well or cannot be played using
Windows Media Player. In that case, please download the alternative
MPEG playback software:

VCDGear, an application that allows one to extract VCD
compliant MPEG streams from various types of CD images or track
images, perform stream conversions, and has the ability to correct
certain errors in the MPEG.

play the VCDs that Windows Media Player can't play, try to get this
useful tool, available as freeware for public download at
http://www.vcdgear.com.

What Other Equipment Can
Be Used To Play VCD?
Are DVD And Video CD The
Same?
No. Although DVD
players will be able play Video CD movies as well as DVD movies. DVD
movies are encoded using a compression technique called MPEG2. Video CD
on the other hand is encoded using MPEG1 compression.
Since MPEG2 decoders (your DVD player) are backward compatible,
most of the time, you will be able to play Video CD using your DVD
player. However, you cannot play DVD using your Video CD
players. Please consult your player's manual for confirmation.
Can I Play DVD Using My
Computer?
Yes, provided you have
a DVD drive installed. If you only have a conventional CD-ROM drive,
then you can only play Video CD on your computer, not DVDs.
What's The Quality Of VCD
Like?
Because of the capacity
to hold more data, DVD movies are of more superior quality compared to
VCDs. DVD can hold up to 26 more times (6 Gigabytes) of data as compared
with VCD (650 Megabytes). One of the objectives of the MPEG-1 standard
for VCD was to get the quality comparable to S-VHS. In practice, picture
quality when using a VCD players may somehow be almost as good as laser
disc, depending on the encoding. VCDs are playable on any machine
capable of playing VCD anywhere in the world. This is because VCDs have
no incompatibility problem caused by different formats such as PAL, NTSC
& SECAM, and also do not have lockout codes that disallow you playing
movies that are not bought in your region.
What Are The Differences
Between NTSC And PAL?
There are two TV video
standards, NTSC and PAL. NTSC is used in North America, and PAL is used
almost everywhere else in the world. Most hardware devices (DVD or VCD
players) that play PAL video resolution out on a NTSC monitor correctly
will cut approximately 24 lines of resolution from the top and bottom of
a PAL image. Almost all VCDs are in PAL resolution, as they are
manufactured in Asia. This is usually not an issue, because not much
details are lost by such truncation. Note : NTSC has 352 X 240 video
resolution and PAL's video resolution is 352 X 288. This PAL to NTSC
video conversion / truncation problem does not exist when viewed on a PC
monitor as the PC just displays the whole image. Nowadays, most TVs and
DVD players are multisync, meaning that it will play both NTSC or PAL
format, thus VCDs in PAL format will play well on these players.
Do
The Movies Contain
Subtitles?
No, our English movies
do not contain subtitles unless clearly stated. We do not normally carry
English movies with subtitles. There are only a very small number of
English movies that contain subtitles. These are clearly stated in the
VCD description pages.
If you do not see
anything concerning subtitles, then you can safely assume that the movie
does not contain subtitles.
However, VCD other than
English movies, such as anime titles, might have English subtitles.

How Long Do You Take To
Ship My Order?
All purchases are
shipped via Aramex® delivery service. We normally will ship out your
order within 48 Hours if we have stock. If ordered item is out of
stock, it will take around 4-8 days before we can process the order
shipment. In counting delivery days, you should count business days
only.
ArabiaMall.us makes
every attempt to keep items in stock. Should the item be out of stock,
you will be notified by e-mail during the ordering process with the
approximate delivery time noted.
We will definitely
e-mail you once we have shipped out your order. If your order is sent
via Aramex® delivery service, we will also notify you of the airway bill
number so that you can track your order online.

What Is Backorder?
High demand items and/or obscure titles may not be
available for immediate shipment. If your item is on backorder, we will
notify you via email after 6 days. We will automatically begin to search
our alternate suppliers for new inventory We will ship the backordered
item immediately upon obtaining it.
If we are unable to locate the Backorder item after
another week, we will notify you again via email. At this point you can
continue to wait for supply, or cancel the back ordered item(s) and
receive a refund. We will continue to search through more suppliers.
If your item is on backorder for 7 days, we will
automatically refund your payment and email a refund notification.
Do You Ship
Internationally?
Yes. We practically ship to all countries in the
world. If due to any unforeseen circumstances, we could not deliver to
you, we will notify you via e-mail.

VCD Importation
It is your responsibility to know
all about your own country's Customs regulations on importation of VCDs,
which may include all applicable Customs fees, duties, taxes and/or VAT.
ArabiaMall.net is not responsible for any Customs fees, duties, Taxes
and/or VAT.
Customers who are unavailable to receive the order shipment and/or
decline to pay the imposed import duties or taxes, resulting in the
order being returned to ArabiaMall.us shall be liable for the order
charges as well as all shipping charges incurred.
If the local Customs and/or local government confiscates your order,
ArabiaMall.net is in no way to be held responsible.
As we do not sell pirate/bootlegged copies, we will also not refund
orders that are confiscated by Customs. We will not reship the order
that has been confiscated, but we will assist you to our best ability

Due to unforeseen circumstances (such as strikes,
public holidays, etc.) there may sometimes be a slight delay due to the
delivery via courier / postal services. We will always try to send your
order using the most reliable courier service (currently we are using
Aramex® delivery service) or Registered Airmail. If you were away when
your parcel arrives, please contact your local courier service company
or post office.
If your order was sent using
aramex® delivery
service, you will be able to track and locate your order using online
tracking at
http://www.aramex.com. You can always call upon your local
aramex(part of DHL)or
send an e-mail to aramex® to enquire on the status of your order.

What If I Received A
Defective / Damaged Merchandize?
We want you to be pleased with your ArabiaMall.net
purchases. We process refund or exchange for merchandize that are found
initially defective on first hand use, such as that the VCD / DVD
suffers manufacturing defects or physical defects. We
cannot accept damaged or misused merchandise. If you prefer an exchange,
we will issue you the title's full credit which you can apply to the
purchase of another selection of your choice.
For return of merchandize, we recommend that you send
your return via an insured carrier. We are not responsible for lost
returns. Please note that we do not reimburse your shipping costs for
the returned product.
Replacements are sent via registered air mail. Or, we
can also arrange to ship the replacement titles along with your next
order via Aramex.
Please note that, shipping charges are not
refundable once your order has been processed and shipped. Free
titles along with purchase of your order are also not refundable
for credit.

Unopened items can be returned for a full title
refund if they are returned to us within 7 days of delivery. Shipping
